Bumper Damage Insurance Claim – Can It Be Claimed On Insurance

Bumper damage is covered by insurance but first, what you need to have is the right kind of coverage which would compel your insurance company to look into your claim. Even if it happens that your insurance coverage would cover for any circumstance or situation that might lead to a car bumper damage, there are also other factors or matters that needs to be carefully considered before filing for a claim. Bumper damage insurance claim is what this article addresses today but the cost of repair and amount of damage must be considered.

It doesn’t really matter whether or not the insurance company would look into the claim you have filed for the damage on your bumper, knowing what caused the damage to your bumper and also importantly the type of coverage that you have in your policy is very important. If it wad your bumper that got damaged in the car accident then then it would be covered by the insurance policy especially if you have collision coverage. If another event was the cause of the damage lets say a tree fell on your car or vandalism then it depends.

If another source was the cause of the damage to your bumper then your insurance would not cover for it unless you have comprehensive coverage in your insurance policy. If an auto accident as the cause of the damage done to your bumper and also other parts of your vehicle then a collision coverage would cover for it. If on the other hand you got hit from the rear because you were obeying traffic lights then your insurance company would still cover up for it as long as the accident happened while you were obeying traffic signs.

Generally speaking, having collision coverage in your insurance policy would simply be enough to cover up for replacement and repair costs including damages that happened to your vehicle while it was rolling over. Insurance companies nowadays would want their drivers to have collision coverage to be included in their insurance policy and it is also becoming part of the agreement a lender includes in his contract when lending out his vehicle to any driver.

If a traffic accident wasn’t the cause of the damage done to your bumper then your insurance company would not cover up for it unless your insurance coverage carries comprehensive coverage. Comprehensive coverage is also very important in your insurance policy because it would cover for events like road debris, car theft, fire, natural disasters, hitting of animals and also vandalism.

Effect Of Deductible

No matter the type of deductible you have on your coverage, the first thing that you would be required to do is to pay for your deductible. This should be paid for promptly before your insurance company pays up for the remaining cost of replacement or repairs. One thing you should not forget to do when signing up with an insurance policy is selecting a deductible that you would find very comfortable. A higher deductible simply gives you low overall cost in monthly payments and insurance plans.

Furthermore, a higher deductible also results into having a larger out of pocket costs if you eventually end up filing for a damage claim. Let me break this down with an example; if the cost of repairing your bumper is 1200 dollars and your deductible is a thousand dollars then what you would pay is exactly one thousand dollars while your insurance company would pay up the remaining two hundred dollars. Filing for a claim would surely have an impact or effect on the cost of your insurance coverage.

Therefore what you need to do is for you to weigh the pros and cons of filing for a claim and paying for the damage out of your pocket.
