This is why we have brought you this article which talks about does car insurance cover for dents and scratches.

However, as easy as it sound, such decision is also capable of taking more or costing more than you can ever imagine. In almost every case, having a full coverage insurance plan would actually pay for whatever dent or scratch your car has suffered but one thing we want you to have at the back of your mind is that first of all, you would need to reach a deductible first. As long as the car is still fully functional, most people are not interested in activating their insurance when trying to fix up a dent or scratch on their car and in some cases, they would prefer putting up with the dent or scratch on their car.

While on some cars that are less valuable, people do no bother with having full insurance coverage so they are not really interested in paying for damages that are self inflicted. It is very nice to have a full coverage insurance plan because it becomes helpful when you have to fix a dent or scratch that requires the entire panel to get replaced. This would take more than a cheap fix but instead would require making use of every available insurance plan or option that you have.

Collision Protection

If after investigations in a car accident and you are considered to be the one at fault for the accident then you have just placed your insurer on the hook to get both cars fixed or repaired. This is where your collision coverage comes into play as it would pay for your car damages while your liability protection is going to pay for the damages the other car has suffered.

Dents and scratches are considered to be repairable items if they happened as a result of a car accident. If they are the only problem suffered after a car accident then you have the choice to pay for them or not pay for them based on your deductible.

If it also happens that the other driver involved in the accident is at fault then it is up to his insurer to bear the cost for repairing the dents and scratches on your vehicle as well as all other repairs.

Comprehensive Protection

Comprehensive claims also involves dent and scratches that a car has suffered during a car accident. Your comprehensive protection plan would take care of dents or scratches that came as a result of someone backing up into your car in the parking lot, someone scratches your car using his or keys or someone strikes your car with a ball. The deductible here also applies the same way it applies if it were to be a collision protection coverage.

Other Things To Consider

The thing is if the dent or scratch isn’t so bad and you are the cause for them then you might just go on an fix them yourself. They could actually be low cost repairs that won’t go higher than your deductibles and even if they eventually do, it won’t be that much. The insurance company might be forced to raise your premium if you go on to file a claim for a matter that small and on that note, if you are at fault for a minor dent or scratch on your car or the car of another driver then go ahead and pay for is repair from your pocket.

Keeping the insurance company out of matters like this means both of you would be able to avoid or prevent unnecessary hikes in insurance.
